New Dehli in March 1947. The colossal and stately Viceroy’s Palace resembles an apiary. Its five hundred workers are caught up with setting up the happening to Lord Louis Mountbatten, who has recently been designated new (and last) emissary of India by head administrator Clement Attlee. Mountbatten, whose troublesome assignment comprises of administering the progress of British India to freedom, lands at the Palace, joined by Edwina, his liberal-disapproved of spouse and Pamela, his eighteen-year-old little girl. In the mean time, in the staff quarters, a romantic tale is conceived between Jeet, a Hindu, and Aalia, a Muslim stunner. Things will demonstrate troublesome – not to state exceptionally troublesome – both on the geopolitical and individual level.
