The Darkest Hour Full Movie Review:
I don’t have the foggiest idea why pundits panned this film to such an extent. Did they expect an unexpected film in comparison to what they saw? In the wake of seeing the trailer, this seemed to be a great film so I tried it out and was not frustrated. It was essentially similar to I thought it would have been. Sure the entire thing has been done a ton, and this adheres to the recipe partially (less the irritating deus ex machina plot gadget), yet it was sufficiently unique to separate it.
The acting, while not Oscar commendable, was certainly fine for this type of film. The setting (abandoned Moscow after the intrusion) was great, and the impacts (aside from the initial plane shot) were very great as well. There was barely sufficient tension and activity to keep things fascinating, and keeping in mind that I didn’t feel a profound bond with the characters, I actually pull for them to get by.
